Use your ability to understand and translate business requirements into IT solutions and manage databases as the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Database Manager (IS Business Automation Senior)! The Crash Database Manager serves as a key interface between the agency data needs and the IT project teams to maintain and update the Crash Database. This position supports all law enforcement agencies across the state with crash form completion and transmitting the crash data to DOT appropriately.

The Crash Records Unit compiles and maintains all Wisconsin traffic crash data for use by researchers, traffic engineers, traffic safety advocates and other public safety entities. Traffic crash data is also made available to the public through the use of the Community Maps website.

Position Summary

The Crash Database Manager is a business area expert and business liaison for the Wisconsin State Patrol who works with IT project managers to develop, facilitate, coordinate, test and implement updates to the Crash Database. The Crash Database is used by law enforcement agencies statewide and works with stakeholders including Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS), the Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin (TOPS Lab), as well as WisDOT planning and engineering divisions.

This position plays a role in creating routine and ad-hoc reports for management and Crash Database users from using database query, data analytics and data visualization technologies such as SAS, SQL, Python and other associated tools.
