Job Description
Looking for an experienced geospatial research analyst (two positions available) with excellent communication skills and a strong analytical/computational background, will be able to develop rapport with domain researchers, and is highly organized, and comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary research team on a diverse set of projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Development of Geospatial Analytic Tools (70%)
- Serve as an analyst and developer for large scale GIS and remote sensing projects.
- Design and develop appropriate informatics strategies related to GIS and remote sensing as required.
- Design, develop, document, and test robust back-end GIS software libraries in cooperation with front-end and API developers
- Develop, prototype, and execute analytic workflows for GIS and remote sensing data.
- Assist in building out analytical infrastructure to support common needs of related research projects and tools.
Education and Consulting (20%)
- Develop and deliver GIS training materials for GEMS Learning
- Perform ad hoc GIS analysis as a consultant for external groups via GEMS Solutions
Documentation, Planning and Reporting (10%)
- Appropriately document work conducted, both to comply with GEMS reporting requirements, and to allow the preparation of any analytic reports required by project collaborators.
- Work collaboratively with other GEMS Initiative colleagues in planning and design activities involving geospatial analysis for the GEMS Platform, GEMS Exchange and GEMS Sensing.
