GIS Infrastructure Architect

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is recruiting for a GIS Infrastructure Architect (IS Technical Services Consultant/Administrator) to join our enterprise GIS Unit! This is an exciting career opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting complex GIS server, cloud and database infrastructure within the Department. We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates leadership and expertise in GIS server, cloud and database architecture and infrastructure to support systems/applications implemented and maintained in our large, complex, multi-platform environment. This position independently researches, plans, designs, and oversees the direction and establishment of agency GIS server, cloud and database architecture, and implements, manages and supports GIS infrastructure to support high-profile, critical agency business needs. This position develops and establishes agency-wide policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines that govern the administration, security, use, and management of agency GIS infrastructure.

This position directs and leads the research, evaluation, specification, configuration, testing, implementation, administration, integration, monitoring, optimization, and support of agency GIS server (ArcGIS Server, Portal), cloud (ArcGIS Online) and database (ArcSDE) infrastructure. This position designs and directs the evaluation, prototyping and testing of new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and tools for agency GIS architecture and infrastructure. This position provides expert consulting and problem resolution for agency GIS server, cloud and database architecture and infrastructure tools, services and issues.

Qualified applicants must have experience in all the following:

• Researching, planning and designing organizational GIS server, cloud and database architecture
• Testing, implementing and supporting organizational GIS server, cloud and database infrastructure
• Providing team and/or technical leadership and direction for organizational GIS architecture or infrastructure

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will also have experience with one or more of the following:

• Experience implementing and supporting Esri ArcGIS Server/Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
• Experience implementing and supporting Esri ArcGIS in Oracle databases
• Experience implementing and supporting Esri’s Roads and Highways, Esri’s Notebook Server, AWS S3 cloud storage, or Safe Software FME
