This position will focus on the advancement and further development of Cedar’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services within our growing Environmental Services and Community Development Infrastructure Teams. This position will include roles as GIS technical leader, project lead, data manager, business developer, and staff advisor.
Position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, good writing abilities along with good oral communication and presentation skills. Successful candidate also should demonstrate problem solving ability.
The ideal candidate will provide critical support of Cedar Leadership and other professionals to advance existing GIS technology, new applications, and project deliverables. It will be important to work enthusiastically and efficiently when teaming with Service Line Directors and Team Leaders to develop strategies and tactics to grow GIS within each relevant discipline. This person should have the ability to make business case for and lead process improvement initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to embrace and lead change will be important. Candidate will work with community planners, engineers, project managers, environmental scientists, geologists and/or other technical staff. GIS deliverables will include community infrastructure asset management programs for water, wastewater utilities, municipal utilities, storm sewers, roadways, etc.), mapping, drawings, design and figures associated with a variety of technical documents. Candidate should possess ability in database management practices and an understanding of geodatabases and relational data management systems. Cartography and design skills will be essential to efficiently produce quality output.

• Monitor standard operating procedures and mentor others toward those procedures
• Achieve utilization of at least 50% by end of first year at Cedar.
• Meet budgets and schedules often while on multiple concurrent projects.
• Direct technical work to meet client needs and be a regulatory liaison to the GIS field.
Education/Experience:
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Seven years or equivalent of prior GIS experience with some consulting experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required. Proficiency and experience using ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS
for Desktop Suite of software and the implementation and development of Web based GIS platforms using ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online is key.
