Ayres is looking to add a dynamic individual to our Communication & Utilities Group. This is an ideal position for a bright, creative, and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about balancing the fine details while striving for the end goal. You’ll be at the center of delivering best practices and precise design efforts to impact surrounding communities.

There is only one position available with the option of multiple office locations based on preference.

On any given day, you’ll:

  • Provide design, engineering, and construction administration support for copper, coaxial and optical fiber systems.
  • Design and prepare detailed construction plans for developments, road relocation, and other infrastructure related to telecom utilities.
  • Produce conflict analysis and mitigation proposal
  • Supervise and schedule work teams.
  • Assist in developing cost-effective telecom solutions that meet or exceed business requirements.
  • Pursue new trends and emerging telecom technologies.
  • Maintain required documentation and apply for all required permits.
  • Complete and manage required permits and documents necessary for pole attachments, buried work, easements and ROW.
  • Review and/or prepare engineering records, reports, drawing, documents, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Seven to ten years of telecommunication engineering experience in either network engineering/planning or OSP engineering/planning.
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, activities of OSP engineering design, engineering
    mathematics, OSP engineering and communications system analysis, design and equipment applications and related areas of OSP engineering.
  • Knowledge of CAD OSP layouts and systems, BSTCAD, Microstation and/or AutoCAD, LFACS and associated software.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct effective client/employee meetings.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Knowledge of telephone field structures and how to locate them.
  • Ability to work independently and with other team members in multiple offices and states.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal rules and regulations related to telecommunications projects.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired skills and experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and/or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of FDOT roadway projects and design requirements for relocation of telephone facilities.
  • Knowledge should include FDOT plan reading proficiencies, creation of relocation mark-ups, utility work schedules and conflict matrix.
