The Department of Geography and Planning houses five different but interrelated programs, including the Geography Program. The geography program offers education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including a 36-credit undergraduate major and 24-credit minor in geography (BA), a 24-credit undergraduate minor in GIScience (BS), a 15-credit graduate certificate in GIScience, and Master’s (MS) degrees in Geography—GIS and Geography—Tourism Planning. Additional degree-granting programs housed in the department include: Hospitality and Tourism; Land Surveying; Planning and Community Development; and Social Studies Education.

The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a professional goal to become an outstanding teacher-scholar through the use of research based, best practices pedagogy and commonly agreed upon course and program assessment. They are expected to teach using both in-person and alternative delivery methods such as online and hybrid. They will regularly engage in ongoing professional development and innovation opportunities focused on pedagogical growth.
