Job Summary:
This new position will lead White Construction’s GIS efforts and be an integral part of a new and dynamic team. This person will work closely with our project management teams and client representatives and will be responsible for all GIS mapping and design for the company.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Responsible for leading GIS design, programming, and implementation of fiber optic network designs.
- Coordinate with company project teams, consultants, and clients in developing geospatial data based on industry requirements.
- Create and maintain GIS databases, coverages, and linkages to various GIS databases.
- Perform geospatial modeling and spatial analysis.
- Produce accurate maps and other representations of data for field work activities.
- Utilize GIS designs to assist engineering team in creation of project bills of material, as-staked maps, and unit tabulations.
- Travel to visually locate items to resolve conflicting information and ensure the accuracy of geospatial data, as necessary.
- Travel to Beaver Dam office weekly, otherwise maintaining a hybrid-remote schedule.
Desired Skills:
- Highly proficient and knowledgeable in GIS design, programming, and implementation.
- Knowledge of Python, SQL, JavaScript, Visual Basic, C++ programming language, and spatial query techniques
- Intermediate Excel skills including ability to manipulate lookups and pivot tables, and ability to create and manipulate formulas
- Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
- Superior time management with ability to prioritize work on several projects
- Strong attention to detail
- Critical thinking skills: make assessments and provide solutions to problems
- Able to sit and look at a computer screen for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS related major
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS or other similar platforms such as QGIS, GRASS, CARTO,
Mapbox or AutoCAD - Knowledge of outside plant fiber optic networking, routing, and network management
