Kenosha County Public Health (KCPH) is currently in the process of developing an internal data dashboard for our programs and services. In conjunction with this, we need GIS maps developed to assist with planning. This position will be for 200 hours at $10/hour and will report to the Public Health Supervisor – Emergency Preparedness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be 18 years of age at time of application. Must be able to work independently with direct guidance from Kenosha County Public Health staff.
Experience:
Must possess working skills in GIS mapping, specifically utilizing ArcGIS software.
Duties:
GIS Analysts Intern will work at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. The primary duties will include analyzing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets from KCPH programs. Other duties include:
- Design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources
- Create “shapefiles” to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map
- Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of KCPH program data
- Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations
- Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Preferred degree in Geosciences, Geography, Surveying or related field.
- Knowledge and experience with database programming languages, front-end design languages, and mapping tools.
