Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the work of region survey and data coordinators reviewing and guiding the survey work of others in support of delivering the improvement program. Duties include modernizing survey practices and procedures; developing consistency between regions; developing and reviewing contract special provisions; conducting quality review checks; monitoring performance standards; maintaining survey data workflows and standard feature code libraries; supporting region survey hardware and software purchasing / maintenance / licensing; and supporting other functions of the Geodetic Surveys Unit and Surveying & Mapping Section.

This position may require occasional travel within the State of Wisconsin.

WisDOT does not sponsor work visas.  Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For positions that do allow remote work flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants at the Senior level will have experience with all the following:

  • Establishing horizontal and vertical control with horizontal coordinates/elevation
  • Using robotic total station and GPS equipment
  • Using computer programs such as Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or other related programs to process survey data

Qualified applicants at the Advanced level will have the above criteria in addition to the following:

  • A current Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor License

Salary Information

The Senior position is in schedule-range 14-14 with an annual salary of $54,080-$64,480, plus excellent benefits. Advanced level is in schedule range 14-13 with an annual salary of $65,520-74,880, plus excellent benefits.

A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
