GIS Project Manager

Bolton & Menk is growing our GIS team in Iowa! We are looking for a GIS Project Manager to lead our GIS services for our clients in Iowa.  As an Iowa Top Workplace, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with a great team of professionals. As a GIS Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall planning, development and completion of GIS projects while managing technical and professional staff, supervising their development, and supporting the implementation and maintenance of GIS applications and services.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage the planning, scheduling and performance of multiple GIS projects and personnel
• Serve as primary client contact and work through problem resolutions related to GIS projects
• Identify project scope and participate in contract negotiations
• Develop and monitor project budgets and implement corrective actions as necessary
• Perform and assist staff to develop database and schema criteria for the firm’s GIS projects
• Perform business development activities  (i.e. RFP’s, presentations, preparation of proposals)
• Assist client managers with maintenance of current GIS relationships and assist in developing new relationships
• Plan and organize project assignments and is responsible for the work of other GIS technicians, analysts, and specialists
• Provide on-going coaching, mentoring and professional development of team members.
• Coordinate and assist in training of staff in GIS software/procedures, GIS systems and GIS based software applications
• Assist with establishing and implementing GIS policies, procedures, and standards.
• Coordinate and maintain data licensing agreements with state, county, municipal governments, and other public and private organizations
• Serve as technician for GIS activities within all BMI workgroups as needed
• Travel to work sites and other project related locations as necessary

What we are looking for:

• Degree in Geography, Computer Science or GIS or equivalent from an accredited college.
• Eight (8) years of progressive GIS experience.
• GISP certification. (GIS Professional)
• Thorough knowledge in the theory of GIS operations.
• Thorough knowledge of ArcGIS Platform and related geospatial technologies.
• Thorough knowledge of web-based GIS services and mapping.
• Experience with Local Government (Public Works, Engineering, Community Development)
• Excellent interpersonal written & verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective supervisory and team leadership skills.
• Possess valid driver’s license.
