Washington County
The Washington County Geographic Information Systems Department, located in West Bend, Wisconsin, has an excellent opportunity for a seasonal GIS Intern. The GIS Department provides and coordinates geospatial activities for all Washington County departments. Under the general direction of the Director
of GIS, the GIS intern will have the opportunity to complete specific data conversion projects as well as support general county functions.
Work Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The position will last from approximately June 1, 2023 through August 31, 2023.
Work Location: West Bend, Wisconsin. Remote workers will not be considered for this position.
Qualified candidates must possess:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year vocation or college coursework in GIS or a related field of study
• Current graduate or undergraduate student or recent graduate.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Valid WI Driver’s License

• GPS and field data collection techniques
• GIS data creation and QA/QC
• Map generation
• Microsoft Office
• Ability to read and interpret legal property descriptions.
Sample Job Responsibilities (Dependent on Experience and Qualifications)
• Scan historic tax maps, permits and surveys.
• Georeference scanned documents.
• Tie images to existing or newly created GIS features.
• Develop ArcGIS Online/Portal applications.
• Field data collection and verification.
• Exposure to UAS data collection and techniques.
