The City of Marshfield is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator to join our team. The GIS Coordinator provides accurate, reliable, and critical GIS information to City Departments that is necessary for the success of department programs and projects by maintaining, coordinating and administering the City’s GIS, including the analysis of complex data and the design, development, and implementation and maintenance of GIS applications.

This individual acts as a resource to other departments in planning, developing, maintaining, and effectively utilizing GIS data. The position performs related and other work as required all within the context of the City’s Mission, Vision, and Values statement and with a strong and progressive customer service orientation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
·      Perform GIS Enterprise Geodatabase managerial necessities including: spatial data entry, design, and maintenance. Acquisition and dissemination of GIS-related data as required. Perform routine Quality Control and Assurance measures and metadata updates.
·      Perform complex data transformations and analysis including Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) models between GIS, CAD formats, Interface, and Access databases.
·      Configure and program numerous web and mobile GIS applications to support various departments.
·      Gather and interpret survey-grade GPS field data using Trimble Survey Controller and VRS corrected data.
·      Create high quality maps for Common Council presentations, Boards and Commission reports, Economic Development/Redevelopment presentations, and others as needed.
·      Provide guidance/training to staff on all GIS initiatives.
·      Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
·      Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, GIS, Surveying, or a related field required.
Proven analytical and project management expertise and experience in the Public Land Survey System and/or general surveying knowledge is preferred.

EXPERIENCE 
Minimum Required: Minimum 3 years progressive professional GIS experience.

Preferred/Optional: Experience with ArcSDE Administration and Implementation; ArcGIS Server Installation and Implementation; computer programming experience in SQL, VB.NET, Python, HTML, and MXML/ActionScript (Flex) and ArcGIS Desktop 10 or greater preferred. Proven analytical and project management expertise and experience in the Public Land Survey System and/or general surveying knowledge is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
 
Minimum Required:
Preferred/Optional: GIS Professional Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Candidates must possess the ability to: identify and conceptualize information needs, work flow sequences, and data acquisition problems; develop economical and feasible applications, making the best use of available GIS data and existing resources; develop and maintain appropriate documentation and metadata; work with and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. The successful candidate will be skilled in data conversion, digitizing, and map production, with strong attention to cartographic detail.
