Survey Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in land surveying, prepares documentation and manual drawings, witnesses survey monuments, maintains survey supplies inventory, and performs related duties as part of a project survey team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Assists in the monument maintenance system through which the public land survey system corners are checked and perpetuated each year
• Assists in the project for re-establishment of the Public Land Survey System
• Performs record research as needed or directed
• Witnesses survey monuments prior to any road repair and/or reconstruction, replaces damaged monuments and witness ties, and prepares supplemental documentation
• Prepares manual field book drawings as needed and directed
• Performs related surveying, mapping, or cartography duties as assigned
• Maintains vehicle inventory and restocking with related surveying supplies
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from high school
• Completion of at least two (2) semesters in a surveying, geography or mapping related field.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
• Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check

DESIRED TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in land surveying with some additional practical experience in working with a land surveying company or other survey-service provider.

OR

• Graduation from high school and two (2) or more years of experience in working with a land surveying company. or another survey-service provider
