The DNR is currently recruiting to fill their Floodplain Mapping GIS Analyst vacancy supporting the Division of External Services. This position is headquartered at the State Natural Resource Building (GEF 2) in downtown Madison, which is conveniently located near various restaurants and coffee shops. This position may be able to work remotely up to 60% of the time pending supervisor approval.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for implementing floodplain mapping projects throughout the State. The position will provide critical support for the floodplain mapping program contract to create new Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) and other flood risk projects associated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Floodplain Risk MAP Initiative.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is IS Data Services Senior, which is in schedule-range 07-34 with a starting salary of $69,118 – $78,354 annually, based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Pay for state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications
Please ensure the application materials you submit (resume and letter of qualifications) clearly describe your experience related to the stated criteria below:
Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
- Experience performing Geographic Information System (GIS) data editing, quality control, metadata management and creating maps to defined specifications using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) ArcGIS Desktop software (ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro).
- Experience working on a project team.
- Experience integrating, transforming and consolidating GIS data from various formats and sources into a central geodatabase.
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
- Experience in the use of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) software tools for developing and updating FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), and/or the use of the Mapping Information Platform (MIP) for tracking project specifics.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood mapping, or other related fields (i.e., civil engineering, soil science, etc.).
- Experience with GIS scripting or automating repeated processes to improve efficiency.
- Education, training and/or experience with the process of development and the application of FEMA maps and GIS datasets (FIRMs, FIS, NFHL).
