The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is recruiting for a Photogrammetry and LiDAR Specialist (Transportation Specialist Senior or Advanced). This position is located in the Photogrammetry unit within the Bureau of Technical Services!

This full time permanent position can he headquartered out of: Madison, Waukesha, Green Bay, Rhinelander, Wisconsin Rapids, La Crosse, Eau Claire or Superior!

Position Summary

Acting under the general supervision of the Photogrammetry Unit Supervisor, this position supports the generation of Photogrammetric, LiDAR, and Imagery products. Activities include stereocompilation of engineering quality planimetric (ground features) maps and DTMs (elevation data) with a varying degree of complexity by independently interpreting and extracting data from aerial imagery and LiDAR point clouds.

Additional activities include assisting with the development of analytical triangulation (AT) solutions linking aerial imagery to ground control; supporting the generation of digital orthoimagery and mosaics; and supporting the development of flight plans and ground control target layout designs for photogrammetry projects.

This position operates softcopy workstations using a variety of exclusive Photogrammetry, LiDAR, and Imagery software programs.  Experience using Photogrammetry stereo compilation software with aerial imagery and LiDAR data is required.

Special requirements:

  • Ability to use both hands for stereo compliation hardware
  • Selected candidate must pass a stereo test prior to receiving an official offer. This test will be conducted in Madison WI.

Salary Information

The Senior level position is in schedule-range (14-14) with an annual salary of $63,170 – $72,800.

The Advanced level position is in schedule-range (14-13) with an annual salary of $67,746 – $87,360.

This position offers excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

However, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may at times need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants at the Entry level will have experience with all the following:

  • Experience in the application of Photogrammetric principles, methods, standards, instrumentation, and techniques.
  • Experience in 3D stereo compilation methods of LiDAR and Imagery data utilizing MicroStation or Bentley Open Roads, combined with Datem or Intergraph platforms.

At the Advanced level, applicants will have experience with the following:

  • Experience with flight planning concepts / ground control layout, and LiDAR acquisition workflows.
