The GIS Data Analyst position is intended for a summer intern. Primary responsibilities will include processing and managing enterprise geospatial data; gathering requirements from DNR staff; configuring applications using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal; and spatial analyses to support on-going permitting, climate and other agency projects.

This position works under close progressing to general supervision of the GIS Section Supervisor, DNR IT Executive Program.

Position Duties

* Perform analyses to analyze the relationship of geospatial data layers. This work will include summarizing data by geographic zones such as census tracts and performing standard geoprocessing (eg. union, intersects).

* Evaluate proposed WI environmental outreach legislation and assess its impact on DNR permitting programs and communities. Perform associated spatial analyses to determine the scope and workload associated with the proposed legislation.

* Provide recommendations for beneficial legislation.

* Acquire GIS datasets from various sources. This work may include reprojecting data, documenting metadata and reformatting data to meet DNR requirements.

* Document processing steps and follow DNR best practices for file storage, data editing and map service publishing.

Requested Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1) Experience using ArcGIS Pro software

2) Experience performing geospatial analyses

3) Experience developing ArcGIS Online applications

4) Experience gathering user requirements

5) Experience performing statistical analyses
