This position will manage, analyze, and create visualizations for spatial and tabular datasets for a variety of forestry research projects within the Division of Forestry, Forest Ecology and Economics section. Current projects are diverse and collaborative, focusing on research and application of science to forest ecology in both urban and rural settings. Duties include designing and managing spatial and tabular data, assisting with statistical analysis on a wide variety of projects, writing reports, and creating internal and external data visualizations summarizing data for ongoing projects. The successful applicant should have experience with GIS software (e.g. ArcMap or QGIS), understand relational database design, have experience conducting statistical analysis in R or related open-source analytical software, and possess a working knowledge of data visualization techniques. An exceptional candidate would have experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Shiny as well as an education focused on environmental, geographical, or natural sciences. Occasional fieldwork experiences may be available so the applicant should also be in good physical condition, able to handle daily hiking with gear in a variety of conditions.
