This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting critical transportation data and GIS initiatives. This position maintains and enhances the statewide engineering safety database and the Wisconsin Information System for Local Roads (WISLR), ensuring the accuracy and integrity of roadway, safety, and location-referencing data that support federal reporting requirements, highway safety programs, and local road certification. The role applies GIS and ArcGIS technologies, spatial analysis, database management, and mapping techniques while collaborating with WisDOT staff, local governments, and field personnel to deliver high-quality transportation data and meet statewide program objectives.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (07-35) with an annual salary of $62,400-$83,200, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have all the following:
- Professional experience with data maintenance and analysis using Esri’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Software, which must include ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.
- Training or experience interpreting legal descriptions / documentation (i.e. certified survey maps (CSM), subdivision plans, or construction plans) to translate into line work and polygons.
- Experience developing and documenting procedures to extract source data and update spatial and attribute data.
In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:
- Experience with Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) including data creation and maintenance.
- Experience working with roadway transportation data, including data creation and maintenance of Model Inventory of Roadway Elements (MIRE) data.
