This position reports to the Administrator of Management Services and serves as an agency principal authority on strategic business planning regarding the uses and feasibility for employing complex or emerging technology into systems development projects. A primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) activities for the department and provide business redesign planning, analysis and design support to all project team members. This position will make programmatic decisions and establish technical policies, parameters, and standards on an agency-wide basis for the assigned program areas, such as GIS. The major goals of this position are to follow the Department’s methodology in performing all standard project leader tasks; to facilitate project meetings; provide assistance with workflow and software test planning and execution; to regularly assess and document return on investment and make recommendations for business function quality improvements; and to recognize business process, data, system enhancement and information access implications as a result of business/IT system redesign and to interface with appropriate staff on these requirements, as necessary.
