This position will be accountable for maintaining a high level of customer service and support to employees of all levels in the DNR. The position will have the following responsibilities:

Under the general administrative review of the Chief of the Infrastructure & Architecture Section, this position is responsible for recommending, establishing, and implementing data administration policies, procedures, plans, and standards for the Department of Natural Resources. The primary focus of this position is to establish and maintain the direction of the enterprise data architecture, to plan and implement supporting policies and standards, and to plan and lead related projects. Data architecture system components can include any relational database management systems (RDBMS), geographic information systems (GIS), and data warehouse systems. This position has leadership responsibility for ensuring appropriate data model development and achieving data integration across the agency. This position also leads review for data models for application systems and advises agency administrators and managers in areas of shared data and data use across application systems.

The data administration directions, policies, standards for which this position is responsible must seek to ensure the integrity, consistency, and reliability of data within the agency’s database environment. Additional responsibilities include: establishing short and long term objectives for data administration; working with agency management to establish the long term vision and direction for the agency data architecture; provide consulting support to agency staff on data standards.

This position promotes the management of data and application software as a corporate sharable resource to maximize the utility and cost effectiveness of the investment. This includes the definition, promulgation, and enforcement of DNR policy, standards, procedures, and guidelines which facilitate the access to andinterchange of data and application software and the development of shared resources. It also assists in developing and administering Department wide controls on data and application software design, naming, documentation, integrity, shared use, access, and storage. This position consults and advises Department Leadership and Information Management Teams.
