Description:
The WAUKESHA WATER UTILITY, a commission governed water utility that serves the growing City of Waukesha, has an immediate opening for an Engineering Technician who, under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, will coordinate the Geographical Information System to ensure accurate and up to date geo-spatial infrastructure maps and records. This individual will also assist in other engineering, master planning, and organizational support as required. The 2008 pay range is $20.06 (bottom) – $23.60 (top), in addition to an attractive benefits package that includes health, life, dental, state pension, tuition assistance, and more!
Skills or Education:
Associate degree in civil engineering technology, or a related field that provides formal training in GIS, and 3-4 years of practical experience in GIS systems and/or related CADD functions. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. An equivalent amount of advanced education and experience that provides the required skills will also qualify. Considerable knowledge of geo spatial databases, computer graphics and mapping, and the ability to manipulate and customize software programs as necessary to access, gather, retrieve, and report data using AutoCAD, SQL, Microsoft Office, ESRI GIS and other standardized software common to the work. Requires communication skills as necessary to impart knowledge across departmental lines, and share information with other agencies. Valid Wisconsin Drivers License.
