We have a perm position for a Mapping Project Manager in downtown Chicago, IL. This person will plan, direct, and coordinate maping processes. Develop, evaluate, and improve methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, specifications, software, hardware, data & database models, quality control standards and internal operational processes. This scope applies to new database/extract product and new country map products as well as company process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
* University degree in related field such as Manufacturing Engineering, GIS, Data Modeling, Database Systems, Geography, Engineering, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or other related field or relevant business experience.
* Understanding of map database systems and relational database architecture is required.
* Understanding of database change sequencing is preferred.
* Demonstrated knowledge of database formats GDF, SIF, Shape, XML etc and map database tools such as ArcGIS and or MapInfo.
* Knowledge of geocoding tools and geocoding logic e.g. fuzzy logic, rule based logic etc is desired.
* Thorough experience with spatial database building, maintenance, and delivery
* Knowledge of image processing and related tools.
* Understanding of ORACLE and SQL capabilities. (SQL ability is a significant plus)
* Knowledge of Computer programs (Windows based tools, including macro programming in Excel/Access and Viso process tools)
* Competent process design, process test (including gap analysis) and process documentation skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills (can-do approach)
* Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring skills.
* Process trouble shooting skills. E.g. FMEA Risk analysis
* Excellent networking, oral and written communications skills.
* Strong ability to prioritize individual work and company projects according to known constraints while remaining flexible to incoming requests and questions.
* Strong ability for reasoned independent decision-making
* Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with minimal direct supervision
* Strong process approach; ability to see the bigger process picture and to articulate process needs to stakeholders and management.
* Flexibility to travel, accommodate working with various time zones.
