The City of New Berlin is currently looking for a GIS Technician/Intern. Ideally, the candidate would start in mid to late August and work approximately 20 hours per week.Brief description of duties is as follows:
Create and update information within the City’s Geographic Information System and Computer Aid Design system; Produce quality presentation graphics for use Common Council, and other committees and commissions. Complete special projects assigned by the Mapping Coordinator. Perform related work as directed.
Responsible for the creation and regular updates of City map features such as water mains, manholes, pavement edges, impervious surfaces, building footprints, topography, easements, land use, zoning, etc. Collect and receive information from surveys, plats, deeds, as-builts – in digital and hardcopy form – and transfer that information to GIS features and related databases.
This position requires a person who is pursuing a four-year degree in Planning, Engineering, Geography or related field. Current studies in a GIS Certificate Program or post-graduate field is preferred.
