Proxix Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of First American Real Estate Solutions, is a rapidly growing company that specializes in developing and implementing local intelligence solutions. Proxix software and database solutions add location data to enterprise applications to deliver actionable information for decision support. Proxix is seeking a GIS Analyst for its office in Madison Wisconsin.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain geographic information systems (GIS) datasets. Most duties assigned are project-specific GIS support functions and include customized and automated repetitive tasks, such as using quality control procedures on the data to ensure its accuracy
  • Support the maintenance and development of various GIS datasets
  • Use GIS specific software to create and edit geospatial data, develop project-specific databases, obtain geospatial data from other sources, perform spatial analysis, and prepare map figures

  • Review data and perform quality assurance checks for adherence to quality specifications as specified by client
  • Identify and analyzes trends in errors, analyze systematic errors and proposes corrective measures to resolve them
  • Assist Senior GIS Analysts with QA/QC issues

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in a number of computer applications, but must specifically possess software skills; knowledge of ESRI products and MS Office is preferred.
  • Must be extremely familiar with spatial and attribute data and have experience with cartography, map design, and editing data using GIS software.
  • Provides good customer service, is goal oriented, self-motivated and has excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Possess high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to meat deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment.

Education & experience:

  • A four-year degree in geography or a related field with specialization or focus in GIS or equivalent, related experience
  • 1-2 years of GIS industry related work experience
