The Town of Dunn, a statewide leader in progressive land use planning and landprotection, is working to establish a history of each property in the Town. A team of interns will research and review property history through land records to determine changes in ownership and land divisions. This information will help us in day-to-dayland use planning as well as for our Purchase of Development Rights program. This Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) program allows the Town to permanently protect private property with significant agricultural and/or conservation values with a conservation easement.

Students with an interest in land use planning are encouraged to apply. We will provide learning opportunities for students interested in land use planning, the Town’s Purchase of Development Rights Program, zoning, or GIS. Four positions are available. Interns must provide their own transportation. However, students unable to do so may be able to ride share with otherinterns or staff and should still apply.

Duration and Compensation:
A total of 100 hours during the period from June to August. The first two weeks in June are required for orientation. The 100 hours must be completed between 7am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, but scheduling is very flexible throughout the summer. For example, students are welcome to work 10 hours per week for 10 weeks, or 20 hours per week for 5 weeks, etc, and vacations can be easily accommodated. Compensation is a stipend of $400. Students who qualify for work study may be eligible to earn an hourly wage.
