Job Description:
40%-Preparation of summary documents and the preparation of custom maps and reports, data collection, data entry, maintenance, editing and report production for the Department’s real estate program. 20%-Digitize all DNR land purchases into statewide GIS layers. 20%-Assist Department staff in the proper interpretation of property descriptions, particularly in relation to creation of a data-layer showing Department land ownership in the Department’s GIS data layers. 10%-Support Department property ownership web mapping sites (internet/intranet). 10%-General Real Estate Program duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Knowledge Required:
This position requires basic to intermediate level knowledge of real estate policies and procedures including reading, writing and understanding legal descriptions, knowledge of all types of conveyance documents and associated real property rights, knowledge of trespass, boundary and contract law, current and historical knowledge of funding programs, including federal grant programs. This position also requires basic – intermediate level training and experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS) and the ability to use these technologies to implement a comprehensive boundary management program and to broaden the Department’s ability to communicate to the general public the location, use of and access to the Department’s public land base (totaling more than 1.5 million acres). A high degree of accuracy and accountability are required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
