The applicant will provide scanning and metadata verification using an existing citation database of USGS topographic maps. For scanning, students are responsible for removal of maps from files, scanning, metadata entry, file naming and organization and correctly returning maps to proper location and file. Students will be expected to work independently. Schedule is somewhat flexible.

Full time available over summer; 10 – 20 hours per week during school year

A minimum of 2 years of college education is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, quality control and an ability to operate a computer are critical. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system is required. Experience working with on-line data entry interfaces is desirable.

Work will be performed for the U. S. Geological, 465 Science Drive, Madison, WI 53711. The office is on the Madison Metro bus route from Campus.
