This is highly responsible administrative and professional work charged with the responsibility of directing the preparation of a comprehensive County Development Master Plan and providing for implementation of the Plan through: program administration, code enforcement; economic development; community redevelopment; and research, analysis and development of County programs.
Qualifications Include:
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, purposes, scope, and techniques of various phases of city/county planning; statistical, research methods, and sources of data relating to city/county and urban growth.
- Knowledge of land uses, zoning, land divisions, and federal, state and local laws as they relate to city/county planning.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, purposes and techniques of the various phases of program administration, code administration/enforcement, economic development; and program research, analysis and development.
- Ability to plan, organize, lead, direct, and review work of employees; design, analyze, write and edit research studies and surveys.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the news media, general public, government officials, and professional/technical persons and employees.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of the department with those of other County departments and governmental agencies.
- Ability to carry out policies established by the Planning and Development Committee and County Board, fulfill the responsibility of Zoning Administrator as prescribed by State Law, and maintain agency records.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university supplemented by a master’s degree in planning, business administration, public administration or related field.
- Considerable experience, constituting at least eight years, in the field of planning, economic and community development.
