AECOM, an international consulting firm, is seeking a Geographic Information Systems Specialist for our Milwaukee, WI office. We are looking for an individual to support and/or manage multiple GIS projects and tasks.

Specific Duties may include:

  • Provide GIS support for water resources, infrastructure, environmental, planning, and information technology projects
  • Understand and implement precision and accuracy based on coordinates scales and project design protocols
  • Spatial and tabular data development, acquisition, implementation, and maintenance support
  • Compile, maintain, distribute, spatial data with quality control and assurance tasks utilizing spatial database design concepts
  • Develop and support ArcGIS Server mapping applications
  • Develop spatial models using ESRI 2D and 3D software
  • Establish quality assurance plans and controls for client specific projects
  • Establish FDGC-compliant metadata and other documentation
  • Participate in project specific GIS needs assessments
  • Provide information to users and answer questions within formal and non-formal meetings
  • Develop marketing materials
  • Assist in GIS client specific project planning and budgets

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: GIS, Geography, Information Technology or a related field from an accredited university. A degree in programming, with demonstrated GIS experience is also acceptable
  • Must be familiar with current versions of ESRI GIS products (ArcGIS 9.3x)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong multi-tasking abilities, time management skills, the ability to recognize and resolve complex project issues, and the ability to work independently
  • Background in application development (Visual Studio .NET, Javascript) or MS SQL Server is considered a significant plus
  • Technical knowledge and experience with AutoCAD software and CAD standards are also considered a plus
  • Ability to provide support, as needed, on 2D and 3D spatial models for geometric networks, watershed, sewer utilities, and environmental projects will be viewed favorably
  • Experience with GIS application and development for engineering, environmental and planning applications and knowledge of ESRI’s ARCGIS Server Enterprise are preferred
