Project Description:
Assist the Natural Heritage Land Trust in making an improved map to display on its website, working with the Conservation Specialist. The map would:
– Identify all properties the Land Trust has helped protect.
– Provide basic information about each property: whether private or open to the public, directions if open to the public, other special notes.
– Allow staff to add to it as we protect more properties.
– Be attractive, easy to understand, easy to read and possibly interactive.
– Perhaps be linked to our GIS data.
Additionally, research and photocopy historical aerial photos of lands the Land Trust has recently protected for Land Trust files.
Skills Required:
– GIS (ArcGIS) skills
– Website programming knowledge (PHP and ASP)
– Experience creating maps
– Attention to detail
– Ability to work independently
Hours: 4-8 hours/week (until project is complete)
Duration: Fall semester 2009 (until project is complete)
Location: 303 S. Paterson Street, #6, Madison
This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
