KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Evidence of a current registration as a land surveyor
The position serves as a professional Land Surveyor assigned to theCadastral Survey Branch, Eastern States Office.

DUTIES:

The incumbent serves as party chief in charge of one or more surveycrews in planning and conducting cadastral surveys or resurveys ofconsiderable scope in determination of the correct location ofspecific land corners or lines. As field officer in charge, theincumbent is responsible for the conduct and general well being ofemployees under the incumbent’s direction during performance ofofficial duties.

Plans and executes field work for cadastral projects which havesignificant impacts to local areas, many with extensivecomplications. Executes surveys and performs calculations, extensivestudy, research and adoption of land records, history and precedents,prepares and reviews field data, and presents findings andconclusions in a clear and concise manner.

The incumbent replies in person or by phone to the public, privatesurveyors, state agencies, and other Federal offices on miscellaneoustechnical inquiries concerning interpretation of past and presentland surveys in areas assigned.

The incumbent performs administrative tasks related to work, andplans and develops the administrative tools required to carry out thework.
