DUTIES:
-Collection, post-processing/correction, and conversion to GIS of physical infrastructure features of the City using Trimble GeoXH global positioning system (GPS).
-Create maps and exhibits as needed by City departments, partners, and the public.
-Assist with updating the City’s spatial data.
-Assist Engineering Technician with field work which may include surveying, inspection, coordination with contractors and other departments, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Candidates should be enrolled in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, forestry, urban planning, civil engineering or similar program. Alternatively the candidate may hold one of these degrees.
-Candidates should have demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
-Experience with the following is a plus: GPS Unit, Geodatabase experience, and experience with AutoCAD systems and file conversion to ESRI formats.
-Candidates must be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and must be reliable and able to work independently.
-Candidates must have the ability to problem solve in the field with common sense and efficiency.
