Position Overview: La Crosse County has full-time specialized professional and technical vacancy in the County’s Zoning Planning and Land Information Department. Assists in performing Zoning Department and related functions, and has supervisory responsibilities over other technical staff in the department.

Hours of Work: This is a salaried position with base hours of 37.5 hours per week – 8:3am to 5:00pm weekdays. There are occasional evening hours.

Position Requirements: Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering. Bachelor Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Science, Forestry, Business or related field may also be considered. Three years experience in zoning, planning and land use within the government sector with comprehensive knowledge of zoning laws and regulatory codes. Three years experience in land surveying, drafting maps and civil engineering drawings. Strong preference for previous supervisory experience. Strong communication and public relations skills. Complete understanding of local government. Strong computer skills using Word, Excel, and ArcView/Info and database software. Skills in PowerPoint helpful. May consider other equivalent combination of responsible experience and training. If driving County vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Residency Requirements: County or State residency is not required as a condition of employment.

Pay and Benefits: $46,020 annually. We offer an excellent insurance plan with low deductibles and the excellent Wisconsin Retirement System at low costs to you.
