The incumbent provides technical data management support for two natural resource programs: 75% of time to the Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network (GLKN), and 25% of time to the Great Lakes Exotic Plant Management Team (GLEP). For both programs the duties include developing and maintaining custom relational and geospatially-explicit databases for complex inventory, monitoring, and management projects for a variety of natural resources. The job requires working closely with the GLKN Data Manager and scientists within GLKN and GLEP, at the nine parks in the Network, and outside scientists and contractors. Incumbent may enter data directly, but more often advises others in data entry and quality control and assurance measures to validate raw data. After validation the incumbent runs, creates, and maintains custom queries to provide summary statistics and reports to scientists who use the data to analyze and interpret biological, physical, geographic and other geospatial data.
