Location: Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History
Description: Position is 20 hours per week. Schedule may be flexible within the Division’s normal business hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Mon-Fri). Work will begin immediately and will last 6-8 months.
Rate of pay: $10-$12 per hour depending on experience.
This part-time position provides GIS data entry support under the supervision of the GIS coordinator.
Job Duties:
• Use paper maps and other source documents to identify property locations
• Digitize property locations in a GIS using ESRI ArcGIS 10 software
• Verify the accuracy of original and digitized property locations
• Some data entry
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS10 software and Microsoft Office software
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret maps and written property descriptions
• Attention to detail and data accuracy
• Excellent organizational skills
• Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Special Notes:
1. Must possess a valid driver’s license upon appointment or must be able to travel to the required designated work sites.
2. A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.
