GIS Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position is a support role for the US Army Fort McCoy’s Integrated Training Management (ITAM) Program working under the GIS Analyst who provides products and support services in, among other areas, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support ITAM goals. The GIS Technician, working under the guidance of the ITAM GIS Analyst, will be expected to create and manipulate GIS databases, maintain the GIS Tracker log, prepare monthly status reports and maintain the GIS center of expertise for GIS software, Federal spatial data standards, development and testing of custom GIS tools and geodatabase design.

Required:
– A degree in Geography or similar field with an emphasis or certificate in Geospatial Information Systems.
– Experience in testing, implementing and training GIS tools and software applications.
– Proficiency in using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop Applications (9.x)
– Knowledge of ESRI’s Personal Geodatabase, File Geodatabase and Enterprise Geodatabase structures
– Experience with querying and extracting data from an Enterprise Relational Database Management System (RDBMS)
– 1-3 years of related or equivalent work experience
– Ability to work under short deadlinesExcellent oral and written communication skills
– Experience in map production environment
– US Citizenship required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Desirable:
– Knowledge of Federal Spatial Data Standards
– Knowledge of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environmental (SDSFIE)
– Experience with geodatabase design, implementation and customization
– Experience in or working with the military
