The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is dedicated to the preservation, protection, effective management, and maintenance of Wisconsin’s natural resources. The Bureau of Endangered Resources is currently seeking a Conservation Biologist to design and implement statewide bat programs. This position is located in downtown Madison, WI.

Job duties
This position is responsible for the design, development, coordination, and implementation of statewide bat programs. The Bat Ecologist leads the coordination and development of bat monitoring programs, data collection, analysis, and spatial modeling projects; develops policy and guidelines on resource management; provides consultation services to the Department and external partner organizations on the appropriate use of acoustic detection systems, underground habitat analyses, and bat population monitoring.

An eligible candidate will have the knowledge, skills and abilities of, but not limited to:
* Bat biology/ecology
* Bat life history, management and disease
* GIS applications
* Data management and collection techniques
* Statistical and modeling applications
* Principles of effective communication
* Public policy development principles and processes
* Species recording and identification methods
* Principles of field investigations and ecological assessment
