Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Associate Researcher, reporting to the Director, position contributes to the applied urban research mission of the Center. The person in this position will contribute applied research skills to center research teams conducting applied research for sponsors through grants and contracts. The applied research skills for this position will include capacity to conduct spatial analysis using geographic information systems (GIS) software, manage community assessment studies, manipulate databases and perform longitudinal analysis of urban indicator data such as crime, home ownership, and demography.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in conducting geographic information based research and writing up research results, preferably with a focus on applied urban research issues conducted through grants and contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with research sponsors; ability to collaborate well with others on research teams both at CUIR and external sponsor teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong skills in highly organizing planning, documenting research activities, and maintaining data bases.
