GIS Developer/Analyst – Decatur, ILThis is a full time, exempt position.

Job Description:

The GIS Developer/Analyst must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and business personnel while working in a challenging, multi-disciplinary environment. There will be a wide range in the complexity of work which will require the candidate to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required to ensure the quality of our work in a fast paced environment. We are looking for a candidate who is strong in the Developer and Analyst roles or who is proficient in the Developer role and is able to rapidly acquire the analytical skills.

General Requirements:
• Qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the field of Geography, Computer Science or related field. A Masters is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as strong creative problem solving abilities

GIS Developer responsibilities & requirements:
• Reliance on strong programming skills
• Designing, developing, testing, deploying and documenting web-based mapping applications
• Using current industry-standard development procedures and best practices applicable to GIS application development

GIS Analyst responsibilities & requirements:
• Database configuration
• Extracts data using GIS software
• Recommends strategies in response to GIS analysis
• Provides maps and data sets to clients to supplement analysis

The ideal candidate would have:
• Two years of work experience in a related area
• Technical experience in GIS especially ESRI 9.x or 10.x products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE on SQL Server
• Strong proficiency in SQL
Experience in:
• Developing in an enterprise GIS environment using ESRI technology
• Application development or programming including .NET, Javascript, or ArcObjects
• Deploying and configuring ArcGIS Server in .NET environment
• Administration of ArcGIS Server
• Working with non-GIS developers to integrate GIS functionality into customized web-based applications
• Creating business focused GIS products including applications and geospatial analysis
• Developing and using web services

Preferred Technical proficiencies:
Programming Languages
• JavaScript
• .NET (VB.NET preferred)
• Flex/ActionScript (optional)
• Silverlight Framework (optional)

GIS-specific
• ESRI JavaScript/Flex/Silverlight APIs (JavaScript preferred)
• ArcObjects (using in .NET environment) (optional)
• Python (optional)

Database
• SQL Server 2005/2008

• AJAX
