We are seeking forestry students with interest and enthusiasm to work on our forestlands this summer. As a Forestry Intern out of our office in Northern Wisconsin (you do NOT have to live in/around Tomahawk, WI, just available to work in Northern Wisconsin), you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable working knowledge and skills by assisting Foresters in all their daily activities including, but not limited to, harvest operation layout and inspections, plantation assessments, reforestation and conifer release activities. You will gain practical knowledge by establishing property lines, inspecting planting crews, and establishing stream protection zones. Interns will be using GPS on a regular basis and have the opportunity to work in our Geographic Information System (GIS).

Education:
At least one year of college studies in natural resources, forestry, or related field is strongly preferred. Candidate must be currently enrolled in college with completion of a summer field skills program (Treehaven) or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
This position will require that you spend a majority of your time in the woods doing a variety of tasks including timber harvest supervision, harvest boundary layout, flagging stream buffers and other similar tasks in a variety of weather conditions over difficult terrain.

  • Willingness to travel overnight for company purposes.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Read a map and use a compass and GPS. Basic knowledge of forestry.
  • Work well with co-workers/contractors/agencies in unsupervised situations.
  • Accurately document work and demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with safe operating procedures.



The work schedule is flexible, but normally will be Monday – Thursday from 7 AM to 5 PM (approximately 40 hrs per week), but there may be occasional overtime offered

The temporary staffing service will conduct pre-employment background checks and drug screens. You must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. A vehicle is assigned for company use only.

We are offering two (2) paid internship starting at $12/hr depending on experience.
