JOB SUMMARY
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Business Analyst is responsible for working closely with Business Development and Advance Planning to understand internal and external client requirements and help formulate and identify appropriate opportunities in relevant markets. The GIS Business Analyst is responsible for performing analyses using Esri’s ArcGIS product and creating maps and models to supplement advance planning analysis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Data Collection 30%:
- Responsible for collecting, aggregating, and cleansing data from appropriate data sources
- Imports data into GIS software
- Builds geodatabases
- Manages data and GIS software
Model Building / Analysis 50%:
- Designs, develops, tests, deploys and documents data and mapping models
- Works with data sets and maps to proactively look at markets and opportunities
- Recommends strategies based on business development, competition and market driven factors
Map and Report Creation 20%:
- Creates market reports to support regional business development teams
- Creates standard maps using demographic projections, competitor analysis, market participants, and healthcare utilization trends for consulting engagements
- Creates market reports to provide advance planning analysis to various stakeholders
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in geography, GIS, cartography, computer science or a related field and 3-5 years experience performing analyses and producing maps working in ArcGIS Desktop. Coursework in automated cartography, computer science, programming, and spatial analysis preferred.
Knowledge and Training Requirements:
- Experience implementing a GIS environment
- Experience working in a business analyst role preferred
- Proficient knowledge of modeling and analysis using GIS software and datasets, ArcGIS Desktop (v9.3 and later), and Excel
- Business Analyst extension, Python, Model Builder, ArcGIS Server, SQL preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Methodical, detail oriented, and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Healthcare or real estate knowledge preferred
