Basic Requirements:
You must have a Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. You must have a combination of education and experience- your education is equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications: GS-11
Along with the basic requirements, you must have at least one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position. You must have direct and/or related experience in all of the examples listed below to meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Examples of specialized experience include: manipulating and analyzing natural resources geospatial data to support natural resources planning at a state level; analyzing multi-resource data (i.e. wetlands, soils, hydrology and/or land use) at a state level; capturing digital imagery to support conservation planning, quality assessment, and monitoring activities; and applying the Cowardin classification system to classify wetland and deepwater habitats. or
You must have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D degree or equivalent doctoral degree. You must possess a combination of graduate educational of more than 2 years and the necessary specialized experience need for this position. Such education and experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
You can receive credit for education earned outside of the United States if you provide evidence that is comparable to an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
Some of the duties include:
• Ensuring product quality and modernizing components that will improve data integrity and produce product assessment tools.
• Conducting image analysis and classification consistent with Cowardin et al (1979) for the purposes of ecological change detection and inventory of surface water resources.
• Conducting field reviews of natural resource map information to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.
• Producing geospatial products and analyses of natural resource data.
