Civil Engineering Intern- Summer 2011

General Purpose:
Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, provide engineering support tothe engineering department which will include water main inspection, hydraulic field testing, AUTOCAD,ARCGIS, record keeping, data quality control, data entry and GPS mapping functions.

Responsibilities to include:

1. Assist Technical Services to inspect water main and other distribution system installations.
2. Assist Technical Services in engineering studies and field work.
3. Use CAD software to draft construction plans and drawing records for public utility projects.
4. Research records, maps, and other data to obtain information such as location of stubs, water mains,hydrants, etc.
5. Assist in maintenance of asset management system and GIS records.
6. Assist in the collection and maintenance offield data using GIS/GPS equipment and software.
7. Assist with data quality and data entry using ESRI’s ArcGIS mapping software.
8. Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

1. Valid Wisconsin Drivers License and good driving record;
2. Post High School Civil Engineering training and knowledge of surveying principles;
3. Knowledge of geography, GIS, land records, or ESRI mapping systems is desirable;
4. Self Motivated;
5. Must be 18 or older.

Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
