The Department of Natural Resources is dedicated to the preservation, protection, effective management, and maintenance of Wisconsin’s natural resources. We are currently seeking a Waterway Protection Database Manager.

Job Duties:

This is a senior level position that requires experience and expertise in multiple disciplines of information technology (IT) to support the Waterway and Wetland Permit database, co-managing the Communities database, coordinating integration of other databases used by the Waterway Protection and Dams/Floodplain sections, and for developing and/or managing new information technology tools. Database management includes documentation, enhancements, user training and technical support, data analysis, quality assurance, and managing programming contracts and developers. Coordination includes working with other database managers to integrate data sharing. The position will also be responsible for identifying and coordinating implementation of new information technology approaches to increase work efficiencies and usability.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in database management
  • Detailed knowledge of GIS database technology and products
  • Knowledge of emerging technology, including SharePoint and GeoCortex
  • Knowledge of project planning and implementation
  • Experience in management of complex projects
  • Ability to work in groups and teams
