The Position:
Responsibilities will include working with engineers and project managers to provide GIS mapping and analysis, and relational database management support on renewable energy projects. Cartographically, tasks will include the implementation of a variety of complex labeling schemes, map overlays, multi-sheet map layout, and data integration from non-GIS sources (e.g. CADD). GIS analyses include a wide range of proximity and overlay operations; vector, raster and tin based spatial analyses; coordinate system management; data creation and integration from a variety of RDBMS and other data warehouses. Database support will include data entry, data validation, and report generation.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental management, geography, engineering, or a related field, along with 1 to 5 years demonstrated experience in using GIS products. Candidates should possess: proficiency using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop products; knowledge of relational database principles and design; knowledge of coordinates systems and map projections. Familiarity with ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, Microsoft SQL Server, and some basic programming experience is a plus. Candidates should also possess excellent communication and writing skills, and be able to work with engineering, and CADD support staff to accomplish project objectives. Candidates will be expected to work independently, with minimal mentoring, and complete their work in an efficient and accurate manner.
