The Analyst assists the Advance Planning consulting team in providing strategic management consulting services to a wide range of healthcare clients nationwide. The Analyst may engage in delivering specialized consulting services in partnership with team members and outside consultants. This position assists the team with the development and implementation of strategies to promote Advance Planning capabilities and assists with the development of requests for proposal, presentation, and agreements.
Essential Functions
Data Collection and Analysis
- Assist with research and analysis to support GIS targeting and territory planning
- Analyze customer’s market service area including patient origins, demographic trends, competing providers, and other specific service line needs
- Assists customers as required in developing a marketplace strategy
- Participate in comparative site analysis and selection to support the market strategy
- Measure productivity of patient volumes, resource utilization, and available capacity
- Compare baseline data to company proprietary Encounter database
- Supply proper capacity and resource data to project teams for development of architectural programs for planned service lines
- Documentation of concepts to confirm data, compare and contrast view points, test alternative concepts and probe for additional insight
- Assists in developing creative custom consulting models which enhance data interpretation and analysis
- Develops, documents and presents conclusions
Operational Planning
- Assist in conducting audits of customer’s existing operations
- Assist in developing recommended actions for alternative operational models and staffing required to support planned service lines
- Assist client in development of implementation strategy of selected operational model
- Supply proper operational data to project teams for development of architectural programs for planned service lines
Simulation Modeling
- Build simulation models to evaluate existing processes to indentify inefficiencies, test a variety of scenarios and facilitate effective facility planning that maximizes staff and resource utilization, operational flexibility and patient throughput
Financial Analysis
- Assist in the development of customized financial models (revenue and expense) demonstrating the project’s financial impact for the appropriate service line providers or ownership stakeholders
- Assists with the evaluation of financing options including research of financing terms and development of lender information packages in collaboration with capital/development team
- Project Outcome Audits
- Conduct customer audits of completed projects to measure actual business and/or financial outcomes as compared to goals established during project development
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or quantitative field such as economics, finance, management, operations or industrial engineering.
Experience
- One to five years relevant work experience in healthcare operations, healthcare facility development or closely related field.
- Self-starter with a history of setting and achieving goals.
- Strength and fortitude to execute the Diagnostic Business Development process.

Knowledge and Training
- Knowledge of key issues and needs facing the healthcare industry that can be addressed by facility and operational planning
- Understanding of healthcare consulting concepts and practices, particularly related to the impact of market trends and business strategy
- Continual enhancement of healthcare expertise through research, education, conferences and professional affiliations
- Understanding of public and private financing of healthcare with an emphasis on healthcare facilities
- Understands and interprets financial reports
- Understanding and use of business acumen
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis and accounting principles
- Understanding of real estate economics
- Understanding of corporate business model
- Strong motivation and aptitude to collect large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data
- Ability to organize data properly and efficiently

- Ability to interpret healthcare practice and financial data to assist in the development of operational and trend models

- Awareness of LEAN terminology and techniques

- Strong computer aptitude, including proficiency in Access, Affinity, ESRI, GIS, MedModel, and MapPoint
