Tools developed by these scientists will be used by local public health officials when making decisions related to beach advisories and closures. The scientist will also work to estimate historic and projected future hydrologic impacts of climate change and land use change. The results of these analyses will be used by local planners and public works officials when implementing nonpoint source pollution control strategies. These scientists will play a key role in transferring state and federal research to the local level. 65% – Conduct systematic investigations of modeling theory and apply scientific methods, including problem exploration/definition, planning of approach and sequence of steps, execution of experiments, results interpretation, and documentation/reporting of findings. 25% – Prepare scientific/technical reports and manuscripts and present research findings to various audiences including peer and academic scientists, agency managers, local public health and planning staff, and federal partners. 10% – Provide scientific support for related research projects through expertise in water quality modeling, planning theory, geospatial analysis.
