Dr. Sandra McLellan, a research scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences, is seeking a highly qualified individual to assist in research linking molecular tools and microbiological measurements to determine pollution impacts on the Great Lakes.
Effort is anticipated to be 50% project management, 30% specific research projects, 10% general lab management, 10% communication and outreach.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in biology, molecular biology, ecology/environmental science, or related field.
- Two years of laboratory or water research project experience.
- Experience with microbiology procedures.
- Proficiency in working with computer programs including Excel (e.g. pivot tables) and Access database (e.g. data queries) and statistical programs such as SAS or SPSS.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency and experience with public speaking
- Proficiency and experience interacting with outside agencies (e.g. Wisconsin DNR, local municipalities, and citizen based environmental groups).
- Experience in laboratory management.
- Experience with molecular techniques.
- Ability to do field work and laboratory work with an attention to detail.
