Geospatial Technologies and Applications Professional

Position Description:

GTI is seeking an accomplished professional who will be directly involved in research projects and program activities centered around the development and deployment of geospatial technologies in the utility and energy industries that are key components  of GTI’s Smart Energy Grid and the Intelligent Utility System Program areas. 

Responsibilities: 

• Designing and  developing advanced field data collection and management systems associated with utility field operations as well as back office systems
• Supervising the development of mobile and other geospatial applications
• Identifying operational process improvement and technical and/or procedural gaps that could be resolved through the creation or enhancement of  business processes enabled by  geospatial  technologies
• Developing, demonstrating and deploying geospatial technologies
• Providing hands-on training to end users
• Identifying emerging trends with the ability to develop medium-term research strategies
• Maintaining a working knowledge of cutting edge mobile, GIS, and other geospatial technologies and application

Required Experience and Skills:

• 4 year degree in engineering, information science or science discipline combined with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of energy industry experience required
• Experience must be focused on working with Field Operations personnel and/or office personnel involved in the receipt and processing of information resulting from field inspections, installations, repairs or investigations.
• Experience in the development and deployment of data collection devices, systems used to collect and manage field data as well as experience in providing hands-on training of the use of equipment, devices or systems used for data collection and management is preferred
• Candidates with utility and energy industry experience are strongly encouraged to apply
• Candidate must have direct experience using ESRI applications and ArcServer environments
• Development skills including C#, python, HTML, JavaScript, or VB is a plus
• Candidates should have 1-3 years experience writing in SQL
