Description:
Dr. Rissman is seeking a qualified graduate or undergraduate student hourly position to support research efforts on society and the environment in the Yahara Watershed. This position is part of a National Science Foundation-funded Water Sustainability and Climate research effort.
Primary Duties:
- Help compile a GIS and MS Access database of efforts to enhance ecosystem services in the Yahara Watershed, Wisconsin.
- Focus on efforts to enhance water quality in the Yahara chain of lakes, including regulatory and incentive-based efforts.
- Analyze GIS spatial data in support of research projects.
- Provide general support for research activities.
Necessary and Desired Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate or undergraduate student.
- Must be a proficient ArcGIS user.
- Must be able to work independently, with high attention to detail and strong positive communication skills.
- Background in environmental management, water quality, land use, climate change, environmental studies, geography, public policy, and/or environmental planning is desired.
- Must be available in summer, 2012.
